Dr. India Jackson

Dr. India Renee Jackson is a heliophysicist, mathematician, and computer scientist from Atlanta, Georgia, whose work sits at the intersection of space weather, artificial intelligence, scientific software, and science policy. She studies solar eruptive events and solar energetic particle (SEP) propagation, with a focus on radiation impacts for human spaceflight. Her research integrates machine learning, computer vision, and cloud-based infrastructure to build accessible, machine learning ready tools for analyzing complex heliophysics data.

She is the first Black woman to earn a PhD in Physics from Georgia State University and has conducted research at NASA Goddard and Johnson Space Centers. Beyond research, Dr. Jackson is committed to advancing accessibility in science through both technology and policy, advocating for systems that improve how scientific data is shared, structured, and used across the space science community.

At the core of her work is a dedication to impact both inside and outside the lab. She is a proud mother to her daughter, Jewel, whose passion for dance and education continues to inspire her creativity, outreach, and vision for the future.
